The torture curse (incantation: Cruciamentun) is a sinister spell of dark magic that, when cast on someone, inflicts intense, excruciating pain on the victim by making their entire body, muscles, and bones tense up and sending throbbing pain throughout it. The curse has been outlawed by the Wizardry government of the United States.

The curse can even cause people to bleed from their nose and ears. During training at the Magical Bureau of Investigations, agent trainees will have to endure the cruciamentun curse repeatedly.

Etymology Edit

Cruciamentun comes from the Latin noun cruciāmentum and means: torture, torment, pain. Cruciāmentum is in turn derived from cruciō (“crucify, torture”) +‎ -mentum.
