Spoiler warning!

The following information is based on events in The Secret Society of Seven Sorcerers and contain spoilers.

The portal-making spell (invoked by chant) transforms an object into a portal. If done on a door, it requires a new doorknob. When the doorknob has been replaced, and the door is opened, the wizard or witch must wave her wand or staff at the open door while chanting:
Portal between here and there,
passage without fare,
make way for us to pass,
straight forth to where ever we ask.

Then, the door handle is tapped twice with the wand or staff while the wizard or witch says the name of the location they wish the portal to lead to each time. The doorway will swell almost to the point of bursting like a balloon before returning to normal, and the portal has been made. The portal will only take someone to one location until a wizard or witch taps the doorknob twice and and tells it to take them somewhere else.

A portal have to be registered with the Department of Magic or are they declared illegal.[1]

Examples of usage Edit

Ana Mahgo made the linen closet at the Mahgo family's house into a portal to Alivan's Wizards and Witches Corner Store in Mount Dora on Beifar Mahgo's request. She used a doorknob-removing spell to make the old doorknob drop and replaced it with a shiny brass doorknob, which she used in the spell. Following Brendan Mahgo and Andrew Mahgo's later use of the portal, it was changed to lead to a light post across the street from Alivan's.[1]
